How To Turn Your Shame Into A Vehicle For Transformation (VIDEO)

Shame can be one of the most debilitating emotions -- but it can also open up opportunities for growth and transformation.



This Is Your Life, Not A Dress Rehearsal author Lisa Kratz Thomas, a former drug addict and alcoholic, opened up in a recent HuffPost Live segment about the struggle of having a felony on her record.



But these experiences, which were once a source of shame and guilt, taught Thomas something important: She learned to turn her challenges into her greatest assets. Thomas used her own experience with drugs and legal infractions to help others, and in doing so, transform herself.



"You can take the thing that was meant for your harm and turn that thing around and use it for your good," Thomas told host Nancy Redd. "You've got power in that area that can really extend to other people and it can inspire them to go past where they are at that point."
