Starz announced the beginning of production on a new eight-hour drama Power to debut later this year. The series is set in modern day New York and tells the story of wealthy New York City nightclub owner, James “Ghost” St. Patrick, played by Omari Hardwick, (Sparkle), who caters to the city’s elite. He wants to build an empire, turn the club into a Fortune 500 business, but there’s just one problem: he is living a double life. When he is not in the club, he is the kingpin of the most lucrative drug network in New York for a very high-level clientele. His marriage, family and business all become unknowingly threatened as he is tempted to leave his criminal life behind and become the rags-to-riches businessman he wants to be most of all.
The series also stars Lela Loren (Snitch) as an old flame of Ghost’s who unexpectedly reenters his life; Naturi Naughton (Fame) stars as his wife Tasha who is also his willing accomplice; and Joseph Sikora (Jack Reacher) who plays Tommy Egan, childhood best friend and business partner to Ghost. Executive Producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has been added to the cast in the recurring role of ‘Kanan’, an old friend of Ghost.
Starz new drama Power will debut later in 2014.
