There is nothing wrong with indulging yourself.
Usually the word is seen as something bad or forbidden. Something you shouldn't do. Something you give into. A weakness. But it's not. You can indulge yourself and be strong -- increase yourself, not lessen who you are or betray your values.
What are the pleasures, desires, passions and gratifications you most want and enjoy?
Maybe it's shopping, getting a massage, eating at your favorite restaurant, walking along a beach, traveling, being alone, being in love.
You have the freedom of indulgence -- the ability to allow yourself to think and feel and do whatever you please. It's your life. You're in charge. You make the rules. But be aware... indulgence has side effects... consequences. You pay for your choices.
Whatever you indulge in will either make you strong or weak -- enhance you or tear you down -- make you proud or ashamed. Every thought and action you give yourself permission to indulge in guides and shapes your destiny.
I'm reminded of these words from the Upanishads:
"You are what your deepest desire is.
As is your desire, so is your intention.
As is your intention, so is your will.
As is your will, so is your deed.
As is your deed, so is your destiny."
Indulgence has energy, enthusiasm and purpose. It calls to you and asks for something. Listen well. Indulgence is irresistible.
Indulgence can be deeply religious and honor the highest of rituals such as good will and gratitude, which are desires deep within our nature.
Here's an opportunity to satiate yourself with thought... change... new possibilities... truth.
