The worst outbreak of the Ebola virus in history continues to spread in west Africa, with the current death toll from the epidemic topping 2,600. In an upcoming documentary, airing on Sept. 18, ABC News' chief medical editor and former acting director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Richard Besser M.D., explores the history of the disease and the implications of the current outbreak.
In the clip above, Besser visits one of Liberia's few hospitals, without protective equipment, and speaks with members of the clinic's burial team. Watching a truck drive away with 10 bodies of people who had succumbed to the disease that day, he says, "It's the first time here in Liberia that I've really been scared."
