In an effort to cope with some of his darkest days in 2008, author Neil Pasricha started 1,000 Awesome Things. The blog quickly became a place that helped him identify the parts of life that brought him joy and allowed him to reflect on the positive before drifting off to sleep each night.
In light of the International Day of Happiness on March 20, Pasricha joined HuffPost Live Host Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani to discuss how focusing on these tiny, happy moments ultimately helped him feel happier, sleep better and write his New York Times bestselling book, The Book of Awesome.
"I said to myself, 'I need a way to cheer myself up,''' said Pasricha. "Ten minutes later, I started up 1000AwesomeThings.com just as a way to put my mind somewhere else ... I always saved up my post for just before I went to sleep ... and this idea of writing down and searching for something awesome about my day made me feel better slowly."
